The 2nd Optimed project Steering Committee Meeting took place in Beirut, Lebanon, on June, 18/19th, 2014, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon - CCIABML.
During the meeting, the partners presented the state of progress of the project and agreed on the future actions to undertake in order to meet the deadlines indentified in the Action Plan.
CIREM presented the state of progress of the activities linked to the Design of new hub - based network system: all the involved ports have received and are completing the questionnaires; the Port of Beirut has been chosen as the Hub Port for the Southern-Eastern Mediterranean Region.
CIREM illustrated then the expected results, the activities, the outputs, the timeframe, the rules for launching the call for tenders and the rules for procurement in ENPI projects to be followed regarding the selection of preliminary design of Beirut port under the activity “Preliminary design of new hub-based port facilities”. To follow, the process results and resources for the design of information system for virtual logistics platform to the partners were presented, again by CIREM.
With regards to the communication activities the partners convened on the choice of the project’s logo and about the need of a final version of the communication plan, for which Sardinia Region is in charge.
ASCAME illustrated the results from the participation in the Mediterranean Logistics and the Transport Forum “Capitalisation of the results”, and a list of stakeholders is planned.
The Syllabus and course content, participants’ profile, economic conditions and calendar for the training course for trainers on SSS, MOS and e-freight were discussed by the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping.
The meeting was closed with the discussion on the future activities. Next meeting will be held in Barcelona, November 24/25th, 2014.
